Hi... I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but just wanted to check (mainly to convince a mate of mine...)

There are some really cheap download sites around... I won't post the links, but let's just say they're based in Russia. You can get a lot of the tracks you'll find on Juno, etc. but instead of paying around £2, you're paying closer to 10p.

So are these sites in any way legal? And more importantly, do producers make any money of these when you buy them?

They are legal because of the laws in the countries they are based in dont make them illegal.
The producers dont get a penny, so if you were going to use them you may as well just use an illegal download site and not give the bastards a penny.
As against illegal downloading i am, im more against people making money from the music when the producer gets none.

I have posted this before but in case you missed it - Check out http://www.simfydj.com/ It's basically a google for EDM and you can search for the tune at it's lowest price from the various download stores. They have been saying that Beatport is going to get onboard for ages but still no go. The rest of the big ones are there though. Pretty handy...
