Mauro Picotto Slinky Tour @ Truth - South Africa

Reported by BassDreamer / Submitted 09-09-03 12:31

One always knows that when it comes to the Liquid Dreams Production company it's going to be one extraordinary evening out , with a long history of parties these guys know what they are doing ! With the likes of world renowned top international acts like the infamous Warp Brothers , and the Tidy Girls , Johannesburg could not wait for Mauro Picotto to damage the South African dance floor !Devilish Big grin

Our day started @ one of Jhb's top record bars , @Trax Capital Records where a handful of invited patrons gathered to meet , photograph and find out more about one of dance music's greatest pioneers.Waves

Upon arrival we where introduced to Mr Picotto who was extremely down to earth and friendly , not like a lot of other international Dj's who have huge ego's because of the status , after signing countless records and an endless amount of photographs Picotto was taken back to his hotel to prepare for one of the largest nights to take place at Truth Midrand !

We arrived @ Truth at 8:30 as the club opened at 9pm and we didn't feel like standing in an enormous queue half the evening but the bass was already pounding and doors where open, all retail tickets had sold out so this was going to be one massive event ! The queue moved quickly and there was no long waits by the already eagerly bouncing clubbers to get inside.Moons

The club filled all 3 dance floors within the 1st 2 hours of opening , the outdoor dance floor with huge marquee to keep out the the cold front hitting Jhb that's evening was the first to fill followed by the remaining 2 hard floors !

In the main arena people where already well on there way , dancing to one of our local Dj's Zac who opened the main floor , after Zac it was time for DJ Speedy who kept everyone stomping to a solid banging set with a surprise appearance from Dj Surge who threw in a few slamming trax !

After Speedy it was time for the Slinky boy Dave Lea to dominate the floor with his banging typically Slinky Uk sound !

Then the transformation took place as patrons from all over the club made there way to what would be the prime of the evening Mauro was on in 10 minutes !

I followed the crowd through the entrance which proved a little more difficult than expected as we where compressed into the main floor which was now filled to capacity with eager Picotto fans .

From the very beginning Mauro kept the crowd stomping with his unique tech sound which he kept surprisingly hard throughout his set , I must say one of the best things about Picotto's set was his stage presence , he was constantly interacting with the crowd as well as his music ! Wiggles What a performance , he even extended his set and went on to play for an extra hour , must of been the screaming dance floor cheering for more ! Thumbs up

Then Picotto played his last tune and was thanked with a roaring crowd and returned the gesture as he handed the decks over to 2 of SA's biggest talents Manual and Dizzy <HARDYBOYZ> who brought the floor back into chaos with some seriously slamming house!

The Liquid Dreams Mauro Picotto tour for JHB was an enormous success and everyone who missed this one should be riddled with regret around about now ! Bangs Head

Another successful event brought to us by Liquid Dreams , Truth and 5fm !
Nice one Guys ! Thumbs up Big grin
