July’s Puzzle set new standards for musical mayhem, with superb sets from our guest DJs Liquid Ross, Neil Psykinetic, and a wicked set from Kali – Glade’s loss was our gain, and we’re stoked she still made the trip from Brazil to treat us to such a memorable set!
It’s been the best summer for years, and as the temperature soars, our line ups just keep getting hotter and hotter to match! Headlining this month’s party is one of our biggest guests this year, one of Britain’s top DJs and frankly the hottest producer around right now! This August, Puzzle welcomes none other than….
ALI WILSON!
Since his days as a fresh-faced young DJ regularly playing at the 414, Ali’s career has gone simply stratospheric! Ever since his Tekelec imprint exploded onto an unsuspecting club land, his unique techno influenced take on trance music has won him legions of fans, including some of the biggest names in dance music. Since then he’s released tracks on many of the world’s biggest labels such as Warner, Armada, High Contrast, Toolroom, Spinnin, Incharge, and Flashover. Tech trance monsters like ‘Shakedown’, ‘Pandora’ and ‘Danger’ have ended up as firm fixtures in the wallets of some of dance music’s top names such as Sander Van Doorn, Carl Cox, (who named him his producer of the year 2006), Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery and Armin Van Buuren. Ali’s showing no signs of slowing up on the production front, having recently completed remix work for Tiesto and Armin, collaborating with the mighty Marco V on their recent release ‘Kaos Theory’ and has a brand new artist album set to drop this September. Ali’s profile is only going one way – up and fast - so we’re of course delighted we’ve managed to secure a set from him in the intimate surrounds of Club 414. This is simply not to be missed, expect stacks of unreleased and exclusive material (including perhaps a few of Ali’s trademark bootlegs), flawless mixing and all carried along by Ali’s distinctive and irresistibly funky techno rhythms!
MAZIEG
Our second guest may be unfamiliar to some London clubbers, but in his home town of Manchester Mazieg is a byword for quality psychedlic sounds! DJing and throwing parties since 1994, Mazie’s got a strong dance pedigree and as a resident DJ for the legendary Illuminaughty parties, one of the UK’s top psy nights, you can take it for granted this guy knows how to rock a dancefloor! Make sure you don’t fail to catch this musical maestro in a rare London performance.
MATT LOCK
Our next guest is a firm favourite for many London clubbers, the one and only Matt Lock! He’s been missed on his travels, and we’re over the moon to welcome the prodigal son back to Puzzle! Matt will be on warm up duties for us this time, you can expect an hour and a half of the finest aural treats. You’ll certainly hear some of the quality trance Matt’s renowned for, but with Mr Lock having developed a new found taste for housier sounds you’re in store for an eclectic selection of chunk, funk and good old fashioned uplifting trance. Make sure you get down early to catch Matt in action!
MATT CHURCH
First up of our residents is Matt Church – and after July’s back to back shenanigans with LK we’re sure this month’s set will continue to surpass all expectations. Head honcho at Red Sky, Matt’s winning serious plaudits for both the label and his own releases, with latest track ‘Perfect Dream’ riding high in the trance charts on Trackitdown.net amongst others. He’s also just been signed to new dance agency Danceplug so you can expect his profile to keep rising and rising. As always you can expect soaring riffs, driving basslines and an infectious love for music that shines through in his performances.
PHIL LANKESTER
Next the man you all know and love – London’s favourite DJ, Halcyon resident and all round top bloke, the one and only Phil Lankester! Apart from his Halcyon residency, Phil’s a regular at many of the UK’s biggest parties, such as Party Proactive and most recently at the massive Sunrise festival! He’s proved time and again the qualities that have seen him voted Harderfaster.net DJ of the Year time and again: impeccable tune selection encompassing dirty basslines through to spine tingling euphoria; an unparalleled range of technical tricks and wizardry; and an ability to read and work a crowd like no one else!
ALI CANTOR
Next up is Puzzle’s very own Ali, a DJ who since securing his residency for Puzzle in January has proved himself a firm favourite with the Puzzle crowd. This man plays the very best trance out there – and this month he’ll be pulling out all the stops with a late night set featuring the very best driving tech trance, with of course a potent dose of good old hands-in-the-air euphoria. Make sure you don’t miss out – Ali’s sure to show why he’s building a reputation as one of London’s most exciting up and coming trance jocks!
ANDI LEPPARD
Completing our line up for this month is the newest addition to the Puzzle crew, Andi Leppard! Having taken the roof off at many of the UK biggest psy parties such as Halcyon and Illuminaughty, we were delighted when Andi agreed to join the team as our brand new ressie – and immediately proved himself in emphatic style with a red hot debut set that had the 414 dancefloor begging for more! Andi will be playing the closing set, and with this DJ behind the decks we’re willing to bet the temperature will be stay at boiling point right to the very end!
So there you have it, one massive headliner, some quality guest DJs and London’s best team of ressies – that adds up to one sizzling summer night! If you’re heading to SW4 Puzzle is the perfect place to carry your night on with more of the very best in house, trance and psy and right on Clapham’s doorstep.
Come and find out why we’re London’s biggest small party – don’t be the missing piece!
