Casino Royale, 12 years old and still packing the Barfly, brings you cool retro guitar tracks and 60s tunes over two floors, plus irrepressible host Victor de Milo, knowledgeable residents and our Monte Carlo-style Drinks Roulette table!
Upstairs, DJs playing classic guitar cuts from then 'til now, joining the musical dots between the Stones, Smiths & Strokes, etc. with a Mayoral twist...
The Mayor Of Camden
- perhaps better known as Councillor Jonathan Simpson, he's spent the last year raising the profile of Camden.
The fee for his DJ session will be donated to local charity The Roundhouse Trust. He said: "Music is part of the very fabric of Camden and is what makes it so special, so this gig will not only be celebrating Camden's musical heritage but will also raise valuable funds for the Roundhouse. As a music lover myself, I'm looking forward to playing an eclectic mix of indie tunes from the 1950s onwards. I hope everyone will come along and join in the fun. Since reopening in 2006, The Roundhouse has helped more than 3,000 young people realise their creative potential and this gig will contribute some much-needed cash to help this work continue."
Ed Wilder (Club NME)
- A man with a vision, ed has played at the top of the bt tower and to massive crowds at v2008. He's also the regular DJ at Corrupt's cutting-edge live nights at Barfly and also a regular at Club NME at Koko. Ed has some fantastic electro remixes coming out soon, so look out for those.
The Dreambears
- The DreamBears are the World's premier all-bear dance and cabaret troupe and will be go-go dancing for The Mayor... "The DreamBears are as camp as they come and sublime entertainment. The guys are my guilty pleasure" said Piers Morgan on Britains Got Talent in 2009!
Downstairs, It's a riot of 60s garage, northern soul, psychedelia (& even rock!) from:
Martin Green (Workers Playtime / Bethnal Green Working Mens Club)
- Mr Green is legendary for playing exotic, strange and soulful sounds in suave clubs across London and even Jarvis Cocker's wedding!
Bob Stanley (Saint Etienne)
- A member of cool sixties-influenced group Saint Etienne, North Londoner Bob Stanley is known for his large collection of vinyl records. When the band are between projects, he DJs, playing generally 1960s and 1970s pop music and soul. We also like him because he once wrote a song about our favourite place to get lunch, Mario's Cafe in Kentish Town!
Host Victor de Milo will be directing people to have a good time... and also towards the club's "Monte Carlo-style" Roulette table at which everyone gets a free chance to win drinks!
